Temora – Grass Happens – Controls

Getting started and output

Extract all files together and start Temora.exe. Keep the data folder and the NVDA DLL beside the EXE. Start NVDA or JAWS for screen reader speech. Messages are also sent to the screen reader's braille output. In the browser, use Start game / Enable audio on the game page.

Choose New game and a save slot in the start menu. From your home, go down to Dawnvale, then right to Elin's lab. The game waits for confirmation during dialogue and battle results.

Battles and messages awaiting confirmation

Confirm moves, hits, experience, evolutions and catches individually. Holding Enter, Space or A does not skip further messages. Confirm to continue after a waiting message.

From a move or item menu, Escape/B first goes back one level. You cannot flee from Trainer battles, and required switches still have to be made. After a battle ends or you flee successfully, you can move on immediately.

Press R or N twice quickly to copy the repeated output to the clipboard. During battle and dialogue, this also works with two presses of V or LT. Holding a key or button does not count as a double press.

Without a marked destination, V/LT opens the regional map. Press V/LT twice quickly to open it even while route guidance is active, except during battles and waiting dialogue. Under My destinations, you can save your current location with a colour, optionally name it using the keyboard, and edit or delete it later.

In a menu, a letter selects the next entry starting with that letter. Repeated presses cycle through matches; only Enter/Space confirms. E still describes the selection, and V remains the map shortcut. Ctrl plus a letter keeps other game shortcuts available, such as Ctrl+E to describe, Ctrl+R to repeat and Ctrl+M for the game menu.

E/X describes the selection without using or confirming it. Confirm performs the selected action. Escape/B goes back; first confirm any message that is waiting.

When shopping, first confirm the quantity, then confirm the displayed total price. Buy is selected by default; cancel with Escape or Do not buy. For a travel item, choose Assign to shortcut in the Bag. J/View uses that item while you are freely exploring.

Party → Details shows stats, moves, cry and nickname. The Pokédex contains the regional sightings record. Your journal lets you review tasks and mark the route to the person involved. The phone and travel radio are in the game menu.

Tic-Tac-Toe

Arnulf at Willowgrove Market plays on a board with three rows and three columns. Arrows or the D-pad select a square; Enter/A places your cross. E/X describes the board, and H/F1 explains the controls. Escape/B pauses the game; you can resume the next time you talk to him. The match is included in your normal save.

Under Settings → Language, choose Automatic (system language), English or German. Automatic follows the system or browser language; English is used if it is not supported. Your choice stays on this device and does not change the save. Pokémon, move and item names use their official names in the selected language.

Saving and settings

Import save slot and Export save slot are in the start menu and under More options, and in the Game menu on Windows. Choose a slot for each action. The .lucy files work in Windows and in the browser. Export uses the stored save, so save your current progress first. When importing into an occupied slot, the previous save is kept as a backup after you confirm. The imported save is not loaded automatically. A custom name belongs to the save and is transferred with it. Without a name, only the slot number is displayed; it is not stored as a name. Language settings stay local.

In the browser, after choosing the destination, open the file field with Enter, a click or a tap. Exported files appear as download links under Save files and save slots. You can also separately export current progress that has not yet been saved there.

Ctrl+F5 or two quick presses of the right stick saves immediately to the current normal save slot, without selection or a confirmation prompt. Release the stick between presses; the second click must arrive within 600 ms. After this short detection window, a single click opens the save-slot selection for the current storage location. The current slot is preselected; you can choose another slot. Holding the stick does not repeat the click. Under Settings → Saving preferences, you can also choose quick saving for normal F5, a single stick press and Save in the menu. To change slots again, select slot selection as the default.

Five slots are available with keyboard or controller. Save outside battles, dialogue and Battle Tower challenges. Existing saves are backed up before being overwritten. The game also creates a backup every five minutes as soon as saving is possible. Restore backups is in the start menu and under More options.

Under Settings, you can adjust audio, controller, game hints, speech output, saving preferences and language. Music, sounds, stereo and vibration are configurable.

Settings → Speech output: the default is your screen reader on Windows and the browser voice in the browser. eSpeak NG reads messages with its own voice in the game language and stops old speech when you continue. Rate: 80–450 words per minute, default 350. Speech volume: 0–100 percent, default 80. These menus work with keyboard and controller; Describe announces the current value. Settings stay on this device or in this browser, independently of the save. In the browser, first activate Start game / Enable audio. If the speech engine fails, output returns to the screen reader.

The web version defaults to Browser voice, using a system voice on the device. Continuing stops the previous announcement here too. Browser speech rate: 50–300 percent of the voice's normal speed, default 150. On iPhone, activate the page's Start game / Enable audio button once; you can then select the output method using the controller. Choose browser voice lists the voices reported by the browser with their names and languages, also with controller support. Automatic selection prefers the game language and local voices. Your selection is saved; if that voice is missing, an automatic choice is used temporarily. Existing output settings survive updates.

More options → Debug menu → Set friendship to 220: choose a party Pokémon, then either set only the value or also trigger its friendship evolution. Both actions require confirmation. Level and experience stay the same; time of day and Everstone still apply. Eggs are excluded.

Local and OneDrive saves

Choose the storage location when loading or starting a new game. The five local slots and the five OneDrive slots are separate. Cloud saves load directly; Save and Quick save automatically send the progress secured on this device to OneDrive. Wait for a successful upload before switching devices. Without a connection, existing working copies can be loaded explicitly from the OneDrive menu.

Under OneDrive → Management, you can copy stored local saves to OneDrive and cloud saves to local storage. The running game keeps its storage location. If versions differ, review them first; copying to another cloud slot can preserve both.

Online battles

Go to the battle reception upstairs in a Pokémon Center for an online battle. Create an account with a username and password, or sign in. Create a named battle room with a room password. Your opponent finds it under Open battle rooms. The list refreshes automatically and through Refresh list. The room password is separate from your account password.

Both teams start healed at their existing levels; Eggs stay out. No Bag, Badge bonuses, experience points or prize money. Your travelling team is unchanged. Choose moves and switches as usual with keyboard or controller. Continuing does not wait for the previous turn's confirmation; a next move you have already chosen is queued. A turn starts once both choices have arrived. E/X describes the selected move or Pokémon; in the main battle menu and during messages, it describes the opponent. R/LT gives battle status, G/Y gives opponent status. T/LB opens your party with stats, moves and held items. Escape/B goes back from submenus; surrender requires confirmation. Move and switch lists have no extra Back entry. N repeats the current battle message. Waiting notices continue without confirmation once the opponent has chosen. After a connection problem, Open your battle room finds a room that is still open.
